Development of a WES Centrifuge,

Abstract

ANS and A has commenced its review of the requirements for items of centrifuge instrumentation and equipment which will meet the Initial needs of each of the different Laboratories participating in the development of the Army Centrifuge Center at WES. Interaction with the Laboratories has taken place through the Centrifuge Coordinating Committee, which was established in January 1992 to review the needs of the Laboratories for test instrumentation, equipment and training. This has led to a great expansion of the range of capabilities now expected from the centrifuge center, a significant development from the more geotechnically focused activities of a WES Centrifuge Center put forward in ANS and A's original response to the WES Broad Agency Announcement of December 1988. A second important new development has been in the area of training, which is now envisaged as taking place entirely on the Station under the direction of an ANS and A Associate, resident in Vicksburg for a period of at least two years.
