Abstract
THIS REPORT EXAMINES THE FEASIBILITY OF PREDICTING LONG-TERM LINER COMPATIBILITY WITH SPECIFIC WASTES BASED ON THE AVAILABLE DATA ON LINERS. THE REPORT IS DIVIDED INTO FOUR MAIN SECTIONS (1) BENTONITE LINERS, (2)MEMBRANE LINER MATERIALS, (3)POTENTIAL LONG-TERM LINER COMPATIBILITY PREDICTION METHODS, (4) CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS. IN THE FIRST TWO SECTIONS, THE CHARACTERISTICS OF VARIOUS LINER MATERIALS ARE DESCRIBED. SECTION 3 DISCUSSES TESTING METHODS, LINER SITE APPLICATIONS, AND A MODEL OF BENTONITE COMPATIBILITY WITH INORGANIC SALTS. (AN)
