Investigations for Improved Tack PMR Polyimide.

Abstract

One reactive diluent and several high boiling solvents were investigated for providing long shelf life tack and drape to PMR-l5 polyimide prepreg. A promising approach appeared to be the addition of diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (diglyme) to methanol. However, near the conclusion of this investigation, it was learned that the auto-ignition temperature of diglyme is 461 deg K (370 deg F). Consequently, because of the low auto-ignition temperature it is recommended that diglyme should not be used as a tackifier for PMR-l5 prepregs. (MM)
