Evaluation of Several Silicone, Phenolic, and Epoxy Base Heat-Shield Materials at Various Heat-Transfer Rates and Dynamic Pressures.

Abstract

Three elastomeric ablative materials with a silicone resin base and three rigid ablators with an epoxy or phenolic resin base were tested in an electric arc heated gas stream. The materials were reinforced with a phenolic glass fiber honeycomb matrix.
