Strategic and Tactical Technology and Methodologies for Electro-Optical Sensor Testing

Abstract

This report describes efforts to support technology developments for advanced sensor testing at Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC). Advanced sensor testing concepts and methodologies for AEDC test facilities are described in detail. Methodologies are provided to Support generation of complex scenes for sensor testing with some emphasis devoted to fractal interpolation. Experimental evaluation and development efforts demonstrate the feasibility of extending the Direct Write Scene Generation (DWSG) method for optical projection through electrooptical sensor systems containing the sensor optics. The report provides a discussion of verification and validation concepts and methods to support advanced optical diagnostics and sensor testing.
