A Multi-Channel High-Speed Fiber-Optic Digital Data Link.

Abstract

This research presents the design, implementation, and testing of a multi-channel, high speed fiber optic data link. The aim of this study is to evaluate this data link for use as a viable and economical shipboard communication system. Incorporated in the design are commercial off the shelf technology system (COTS) high speed fiber optic modules, standard single mode optical fiber, and integrated circuits from. Time division multiplexing (TDM) techniques are used for transmission and reception of the high speed 14-channel data link. The data link is a subsystem of the high resolution digital antenna system.
