Ultra-Wideband Antennas and Propagation. Volume 3: Time-Domain Measurements of Water.

Abstract

We have established a procedure and an apparatus for determining the complex dielectric constant of lossy dielectric materials. The procedure involves impulse transmission through two different lengths of material embedded in a coaxial test fixture. Sample data is taken for distilled water, which has a well-established frequency dependence with a Debye model. The measured data are in good agreement with theory. Measurements on other materials appear in Volume 4 of this report.
