Measurement of Sonic Booms and Aircraft Noise in the Gandy Range Extension.

Abstract

The Record of Decision allowing supersonic operations in the Gandy Range Extension specified studies of the effect of sonic booms on certain species in the Deep Creek Range. In support of those studies, sonic booms were monitored around the Deep Creek Range over a period of about eight months. Monitoring was conducted inside and outside the supersonic area. Because noise associated with subsonic aircraft operations was also of concern, the monitoring project included measurements of conventional noise.
