Precision Imaging and Measurements for Structural Acoustics

Abstract

A fiber optic laser Doppler interferometric system has been designed, built, and tested for measurements (0.5 - 3kHz) of surface vibrations in structural acoustics. The two complex elastic moduli of a voided polymer have been measured as a function of frequency. The measurement errors associated with this new technique are discussed.
