Artificial Quantum Solids: Physics, Fabrication and Applications

Abstract

This report describes research carried out at the University of Nebraska and at the University of Notre Dame in the physics and fabrication of self-assembled arrays of quantum dots and wires. Such arrays have shown enhanced optical non-linearities, novel giant magnetoresistance and other intriguing properties.
