Automatic Derivation of Traditional Anthropometric Measurements from Whole Body Scan Data

Abstract

This paper reports the results of a study to determine feasibility of reliably extracting measurement information from whole body scan data for the use in tailor or garment fitting. The objective is to demonstrate an innovative, yet sound approach and solution. The information presented provides conclusive evidence that accurate and repeatable clothing measurements are extractable from this type of data without the use of pre-marked landmarks or operator intervention, either during the scanning or measurement process.
