All information has been obtained from foreign radio and television broadcasts. news agency transmissions. newspapers. books. and periodicals Items generally are processed from the first or best available source; it should not be inferred that they have been disseminated only in the medium, in the language. or to the area indicated. Items from foreign language sources are translated; those from English-language sources are transcribed. with personal and place names rendered in accordance with FBIS transliteration style. This report contains articles on the Near East and South Asia.
