Calculation of Tunnel-Induced Upwash Velocities for Swept and Yawed Wings

Abstract

The tunnel-induced upwash field for a point element of lift in a rectangular tunnel is shown to consist of three superimposed(i fields that, except for relative position, are independent of the lateral or longitudinal location of the lift element in the tunnel. One of these fields is also independent of the type of tunnel (open or closed) and of the width-height ratio of the tunnel, and the other two, which depend on this ratio, are identical (except, perhaps, for sign).
