Structural Analysis of Alvin Variable Ballast Piping

Abstract

A constructual analysis of the Alvin variable ballast system was conducted in accordance with NAVSEA SS800-SG-MAN-010/P-9290 Rev. A (9290). This analysis evaluated all the stress categories listed in 9290 Section B. 10.2. A fatigue analysis in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Division 1, consistent with the structural design basis of 9290 Section B. 10.2., was also performed.
