Source Camera Identification and Blind Tamper Detections for Images

Abstract

Digital images can now be easily created, altered, and manipulated with no obvious traces of having been subjected to any of these operations. In this project, we have developed methodologies to verify the authenticity and integrity of digital images in an automatic manner. The results of our project have important implications with regard to ensuring credibility of digital images, especially when it comes to legal photographic evidence. Our proposed techniques can be broadly categorized into three primary areas based on their focus: source camera identification, discrimination of synthetic images, and image forgery detection. In this final technical report we describe our contributions to the field.
