Seismic Characterization Study of the Advanced Inertial Test Laboratory (AITL) Report

Abstract

The Advanced Inertial Test Laboratory (AITL) is the most seismically quiet test facility in the nation. However, due to poor isolation of newly installed environmental support equipment (ESE) and improper upkeeping of existing isolation, the seismic test environment has been compromised. In order to quantify the current seismic environment, this study was conducted from 24 July 07 to 26 March 08. This report presents the results of the study, along with strategies to improve the test environment. The implementation of the proposed improvements will help to ensure that AITL remains a premier test facility.
