Communications/Navigation Outage Forecasting System (C/NOFS)

Abstract

The Communications/Navigation Outage Forecasting System (C/NOFS) satellite was successfully launched in April 2008 into a low earth orbit. It has a six instrument payload for monitoring and forecasting the ionosphere. The satellite observations are combined with other data and modeling results to characterize ionospheric irregularities that are likely to produce scintillation.
