Volume Sensor Canadian Demonstrator Prototype User's Guide

Abstract

The purpose of this document is to describe the installation and the operation of the Volume Sensor-Canadian Demonstrator Prototype (CDP). The Volume Sensor (VS) is a prototype fire and smoke detection and situational awareness system developed at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). The VS prototype has been repackaged into a standalone unit with two sensor heads for evaluation by the Canadian Navy. This document is broken into several sections. The first sections are intended to introduce the CDP and set the scope of this document. Next, the process of installation of the CDP and its various components is discussed. The next section describes how to operate the Volume Sensor for real-time demonstrations and also describes the situational awareness provided by the system.
