A Comprehensive Systems Testing Plan for the Smart Phone Assisted Rapid Communication and Control System (SPARCCS)

Abstract

The Smart Phone Assisted Rapid Communication and Control System (SPARCCS) is a mobile device-based wireless system that enables rapid communications in the military field or during civilian emergency operations by allowing teams to capture images and share information with one another and with a central command and control center. This thesis contains a test plan and implementation of the plan for the SPARCCS system as well as a formal technical analysis of the system to ensure the proper operation, verification, and validation of the initial SPARCCS functional system. The SPARCCS system and the various wireless technologies upon which the system operates are thoroughly tested in various field and live settings to simulate real-world military and emergency services operations. The tests are designed to determine the optimal configurations of SPARCCS as well as the optimal wireless technologies to be used with SPARCCS for various operational situations.
