2012 ESTCP Live Site Demonstrations, Spencer, TN. ESTCP MR-1165 Demonstration Data Report, Former Spencer Artillery Range TEMTADS Demonstration

Abstract

The TEMTADS 5?5 Array and TEMTADS MP 2?2 Cart were demonstrated at the former Spencer Artillery Range, TN, during May 2012 as part of the ESTCP Live Site Demonstrations. TEM data are collected at each target location while the system is stopped, with an on-target collection time of approximately 1 minute. The data are inverted to determine the principal axis eddy current decay functions of the targets. Classification is based on conparing the eddy current decay functions for each target with those of the various munitions targets of interest at the site, as well as a variety of clutter items that are representative of the non-hazardous metal debris at the site. For the MP System, a dynamic data collection mode was demonstrated over a 1.25-acre Dynamic Area. We report the classification performance results for approximately 1,200 unknown targets in the Open Area with the TEMTADS 5x5 Array. Data were collected with the MP System for approximately 700 unknown anomalies in the Wooded Area. Approximately 400 unknown anomalies from the Dynamic Area were also measured in cued mode using the MP System.
