Spectral Analysis Of Digital Wave Data Computer Program: SPECTRUM

Abstract

Computer program SPECTRUM takes a time series of evenly spaced water elevation data and breaks it down into its surface variance spectral density. Under linear wave theory, the surface variance spectral density can be converted to spectral energy density upon multiplication by rho(sub g) - where rho is the density of water and g is acceleration due to gravity. SPECTRUM is written in FORTRAN 77 and can handle a time series of up to 4096 points. SPECTRUM is very efficient in terms of memory usage and thus is attractive for use on microcomputers.
