1776 - A Critical Time in the American Revolution

Abstract

Analysis of the opening battle of the American Revolution provided flawed assumptions that led to the development of a potentially catastrophic initial strategy. It would take the initiative and leadership of General George Washington to implement strategic changes that would preserve the rebellion. His efforts enabled the Continental forces, comprised of a small amount of regular forces and individual states militia units, to turn potential defeat into victory.
