Quantifying Life-Cycle Environmental Footprints of Soil and Groundwater Remedies

Abstract

The objective of Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) project ER-201127 (the project ) is to demonstrate/validate (dem/val) two currently used publicly available Department of Defense (DoD) green and sustainable remediation (GSR) spreadsheet tools (SiteWiseTM and SRTTM) and benchmark these tools against an industry accepted Life- Cycle Assessment (LCA) software package (SimaPro ). SiteWiseTM was updated from Version 2 to Version 3 as part of this project based on initial results from the demonstration sites and associated recommendations from the Benchmark Team. Many of the improvements pertained to methods or footprint factors for calculation of footprint values, and others pertained to ease of use or formatting. SRTTM was updated from Version 2.1 to Version 2.3 as part of this project, based on initial results from the demonstration sites and associated recommendations from the Benchmark Team. Many of the improvements pertained to methods or footprint factors for calculation of footprint values, and others pertained to ease of use or formatting. Revisions made to SiteWiseTM and SRTTM are summarized in this report
