AGOR 28
Abstract
Progress on the building of AGOR 28, oceanographic research vessel Sally Ride. Work continues 1) reviewing Vendor Recommended Spares (VRS); 2) reviewing Technical Manuals and Supplemental Information; 3) work on initial outfitting lists for Sally Ride; and working on NS5 Hierarchy. This week we were notified that the USCG has approved Pyrotek's Quadzero Nonlite foil faced MLV for use. The yard has ordered the material and will begin installing it on Sally Ride. They will be using the approved Method 1, which will be on top of the thermal insulation with the foil facing outward into the space. The yard will not be using perforated sheeting to cover the MLV. SIO continues to be concerned that the USCG will require the removal of the unapproved MLV at some later date. Emergency Generator Room HiFog: PME325 will accept the minimum safety risk with the current configuration. Upgrading the switchboard to IP44 and adding a shut-trip to secure power to the space may be options for consideration post-delivery. in pilot house various equipment panel have been installed. HVAC ducting is being installed in the overheads. Carpenters are installing paneling. In Foc'sle Deck HVAC Room ducting installation is ongoing with excellent progress. Some work is delayed until overhead thermal insulation and approved MLV can be installed.
