Department of Defense Best Management Practices for Munitions Constituents on Operational Ranges

Abstract

This document aims to illustrate the environmental risks posed from the deposition of MC residue on ranges from live-fire training activities. Moreover, the document describes the state-of-the-art for numerous management technologies designed to slow or halt the migration of energetic compounds in soil and groundwater. This document is provided in two versions: an extended version that provides full descriptions of all background material and technologies titled, "Department of Defense Operational Range Sustainability through Management of Munitions Constituents" (April 2014), and this compendium document, which is intended as a quick reference guide.
