Soil Compaction Investigation. Report No. 1: Compaction Studies on Clayey Sands

Abstract

Presented herein are the results of a combined field and laboratory study on the compaction and stress-strain characteristics of a clayey sand. This study is a part of a comprehensive soil compaction investigation approved by the Office, Chief of Engineers, in May 1945, and performed by the Waterways Experiment Station in accordance with "Instructions and Outline for Soil Compaction Investigation" dated June 1945. This report is the first of a series of reports to be published on the various phases of the comprehensive investigation.
