Preliminary Investigation at Low Speeds of Swept Wings in Rolling Flow

Abstract

Investigation is made to determine characteristics of untapered wings with various angles of sweepback under conditions simulating straight and rolling flow. Characteristics of aileron on 45 Degrees swept-back wing are given. Results of test in straight flow correspond with previously obtained results. Lateral-force coefficient varies with wing tip helix angle in rolling flow. Damping in roll becomes more negative with increasing lift coefficient.
