Parameters Determining Performance of Supersonic Pilotless Airplanes Powered by Ram-Compression Power Plants

Abstract

Speed and range performance possibilities of a number of pilotless airplanes powered with ram-compression type power plants are investigated. An analysis is included relating the dimensional parameters of ram-compression power plants to their thrust and performance possibilities. Performance calculations are shown of a body with conical nose and cylindrical after-body mounted on circular-arc-section wings. Characteristics of subsonic ram-compression engines and an example showing the method of computing thrust are included.
