Arc Welding of Armor: Test of Five H Plates - 1 Inch Thick Rolled Homogeneous Armor Welded with Plain Carbon, Low Alloy, and Medium Alloy Ferritic Electrodes at Watertown Arsenal

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to carry out ballistic shock test and metallurgical examination of subject plates in order to compare the shock resistance of joints welded with the three electrodes and to determine whether a post heat treatment of the plate results in any improvement of shock resistance of the welded joints.
