Variable Inductive Reactance Temperature Controller

Abstract

This final report describes the research and development performed on a variable inductive reactance temperature controller. The objective was to develop a device to control the hot end temperature of the hot cylinder of a Vuilleumier cryogenic refrigerator in the range from 1200F to 1300F. The concept was proved viable on a component basis; the toluene fluid temperature sensor, bellows motion transmitter, variable air gap control inductor and cylinder brazing processes were proved.
