Tests of Thin-Walled Celluloid Cylinders to determine the Interaction Curves under combined Bending, Torsion, and Compression or Tension Loads

Abstract

Part I presents results of preliminary tests such as determining modulus of elasticity for thin celluloid sheet. Part II gives results on number of thin walled circular cylinders when subjected to loads producing different stresses. Ultimate strength interaction equations based on test results are given for cylinders subjected to compression and bending, compression and torsion, etc. Limited results are given for cylinder subjected to torsion and tension, tension and bending, and combined tension, bending and torsion.
