Wind-Tunnel Investigation of the Effect of Vertical Position of the Wing on the Side Flow in the Region of the Vertical Tail

Abstract

Investigations were made with wing in high and low positions on fuselage and with partial-span split flap deflected and neutral. Measurements were made for each wing and fuselage separately. Force tests were made of complete model with vertical tail to determine effect of wing position on characteristics of vertical tail at large angles of yaw. Sidewash was strongly negatives for low-wing combination and weakly positive for high-wing combination.
